So i called my dad to wish my mom (cause my mom wasn't
answering her phone).
He answered and he asked me to guess where they
were.
I thought maybe my dad took my mom for a nice day out in KL
or something you know, it being Mother's Day and all.
so i
guessed Pavilion or KLCC.
'Nope,' he answered. 'We're in Kuching! You've been here before right? Any nice places to go to here?'
Me: ............ Is that why I haven't heard from either of you at all the past few days??
And i can literally hear my dad grinning over the phone.
Yup. They went outstation without telling their daughter. Again.
I think they enjoy the kick that they get doing this to me all the time.
The night out on Friday, i would say, was much needed for me. I had so much fun and clubbing in Ipoh really isn't that bad after all :p
Am going all out with my books right now and my first paper is tomorrow afternoon.
Following weeks are gonna be insane but am definitely looking forward to the holidays after that!
And so it begins...
Right, now if you have been reading my blog long enough, you would know that as it gets closer to my semester break, I would usually come up with a list of things that I wanna do during my holidays.
Well I finally have it and here it is! In no particular order...
Self-pampering: This semester has been a pretty rough one for me and a little bit of self-pampering is in order. The first thing i'm gonna do when i get back is see my hairstylist. My hair looks terrible right now. It's out of shape, messy and just downright wrong. I've been stressing over it for a really long time now and i still have no idea what to do with it =( Any suggestions on what i should do to my hair?
Travelling: The parents and I have our flights booked to go to Hong Kong for 5 days this June! Whopee! I've always wanted to go there since reading so many blogs about how nice the place is! And now i get to go there! Whee! Gonna be fun and probably gonna be doing some shopping there as well!
Besides Hong Kong, there's also the customary twice a year pilgrimage to Singapore but this time it's gonna be different. This time Singapore will be with the girls! Melll we're coming for you darling! And you shall bring us to all the cool clubs there and we shall dance the nights away!
Shopping: Oh yeah. I have the longest shopping list ever with me right now. Some of the things that i have to get include a new purse, new sleeve for my iPhone, more shorts, new clothes, a new school bag to use for classes, sunnies, more new clothes, a new Swatch, new jeans, running shoes, dressy shoes and the list goes on forever. Nothing exorbitantly expensive on my list this time though, which is a good thing.
Friends and Family: A big chunk of my holiday will be dedicated to these people. Yumchar sessions with the girls, meetups with friends and dinners with the family is definitely something i'm looking forward to! =D If any of you wanna meet up (from 28 May onwards), just give me a call alright? ;)
Photography: Most of you would probably realize that i'm putting up significantly less photos this year. Well to say that i didn't have time and that i was too busy this semester would be an excuse. So I'm gonna make it up to myself by going for more photo outings this holidays (Hui Wen! Jom!!) and also if things go well, get the opportunity of learning from some brilliant (female) wedding photographers this holidays.
Boyfriend: Me being away from him all the way in uni here hasn't been easy on him (and me as well). And i'll be honest, we've had our fair share of rough times. So this holidays is gonna be spent making up for the times that we've been apart =)
That's about it. I think i've pretty much got everything covered! Am psyched out about the holidays just by looking at this already! =D
Back to the books right now. Progress is not quite as good as i expected it to be but hopefully it'll get better soon! I still have that agreement with my parents to fulfill so that should give me the push i need. I really really don't want my iPhone to be taken away. I've grown too fond of it already <3
Also, tomorrow night me and my friends from uni are probably gonna be going clubbing in Ipoh... o.O
Yeah i know, you're probably wondering 'There are clubs in Ipoh?'. lol, well apparently there are! Though, clubbing, alcohol, uni friends and Ipoh never appeared in the same sentence for me before. This is gonna be an interesting first.
Hence, studying shall be done before enjoying oneself's night out.
Cheers everyone!
I'm actually considering getting my own domain and moving my blog there. I'm really still just thinking about it only and there are pros and cons of actually doing so.
Vox has been really good to me. in fact, it really is one of the best blogging service provider i've ever seen because everything is pretty much ready for you when you sign up. The interface is really very simple and direct. You get to upload videos and photos so simply, it requires no effort at all. They also have layouts ready for you so you don't have to spend time coding your own page. Perfect for people who are just too lazy to code it themselves like me hehe.
And you know what's the best part? The people that you meet here are precious. i've met so many people from all over the world and because it's an exclusive community, you bond with them much better than you would regularly. This one is for you Vox neighbours! <3
On the other hand, the downside of being in Vox is that a lot of my friends have told me that they hate it that they can't comment (oh you know who you are =p) without having to create an account, which more often than not, they won't go through the trouble of doing so. I can totally understand where they're coming from because if i were in their position as well, i wouldn't go through the trouble either lol.
But see, here's the weird part. I used to have my own domain (albeit very long ago) with my own blog on it and it was definitely different than blogging here. i'm thinking that psychologically, not having random people publicly post comments on my blog here makes me more comfortable in writing what i feel sometimes. Perhaps it's cause i feel like i'm not being judged or being evaluated (whoa deep stuff lol). But yeah, you get what i mean right?
I guess what i'm afraid of is that i'll lose my style of writing or my identity when people post up comments and i realize that there are more people who read my blog than i thought. it could happen.
Have i also mentioned that it is a big pain in the ass to think up of a domain name? lol.
In the mean time while i keep thinking, i guess you will all have to settle for reading from here and not being able to comment first ;)
On another more random note, Iron Man was absolutely awesome! It was definitely worth the trip back home to watch it with him. They really couldn't have picked a better person than Robert Downey Jr. to play the role of Iron Man. Go watch it guys!
we all need a little bit of it sometimes ;)
I had my first field trip on Saturday and it was a very memorable one! (for reasons you will soon find out)
I didn't wake up feeling like i was on top of the world because i still felt slightly feverish from the night before. Went to the bus depot to meet with fellow coursemates and we left for the first place which was an outcrop at Parit.
Not the prettiest outcrop, i must say. But it'll suffice to facilitate some of the things that we've learned in class.
We climbed up just to see more samples and also to snap photos of them for the report that we had to do. Also because some of us were just being monkeys and decided to climb up regardless of the danger =p
you may think that the whole structure is rock solid but it in fact isn't. There are a lot of loose particles that look like this.
They look like loose wood chips but are in fact loose particles that have eroded from the larger rocks!
There was also some mud at the base of the outcrop and the sun was still rising when i took this shot.
Kee Siong, a coursemate, happily jumped on the mud, thinking that it was solid (it does look solid doesn't it?) and sunk a good 2 inches and couldn't get out lol! We wanted to leave him there at first but we were nice people so we lifted him out =p
After that we headed to Gua Tambun which was an hour's bus ride away, to which i took advantage of and recuperated (read: slept like a pig) on the bus.
We climbed up about 3 to 4 storeys high before we reached our site. Looked at the structures there but we also found something else that was more interesting!
There were wall paintings left behind from long long ago. the second one kinda looks like a person throwing a hippo right? lol
We then got really bored up there and decided to take a group photo!
This is only a small portion of us. The rest were still going around looking at the structures. We spent about 30 minutes there before we left to go to our next destination, Cameron Highlands! =D
But not before the customary camwhore shot =p taken while climbing down from the limestone hill.
We left for Cameron, stopping halfway for lunch and also to look at another outcrop at the middle on the hill. This one was particularly interesting because the rocks there were the gleaming black kind called schist. We happily climbed up the slope and took a few samples back as souveniers.
Then we jumped back on the bus and continued up until we reached a tea house there.
Still wasn't feeling too well when i got there so i had a strawberry cupcake and a hot lemon tea (the weather was just so cool that a hot lemon tea was just right) hoping that it'll help. Bought some strawberry tea after contemplating for 10 minutes whether to get that one or the blackcurrant tea and continued on till we reached Brinchang.
We stopped by a strawberry, flower and vegetable farm and look look and see see for a while before we sat down to eat (again) lol.
Tay wanted to borrow my camera so i passed it to him. He was doing all sorts of weird poses with my camera, looking all pro. His poses were so pro that i literally witnessed my camera slip from his hands and did a 180 degree turn before hitting the floor.
oh. my. god. O.O
but luckily he was quick enough and not the whole camera touched the ground. Just a minor chip off my lens hood. but still. first time my camera touched the ground. painful weh. T.T
He felt so bad that he bought me one of these.
the small one of course.
But all was well. it was accidental after all and i'm just glad that it wasn't my lens or camera body that got scratched =) And as if dropping my camera wasn't bad enough, tay accidentally knocked over and spilled his espresso on the table lol. Thankfully everyone managed to avoid it and most importantly, my camera lol.
And off we went to the Cameron Highlands night market which had basically, more food and more strawberries -_- Seriously, everywhere you go there you'll see strawberries up, down left and right. Even their soft toys are of strawberries dammit lol.
After buying strawberries and some food, we hopped on back on the bus and hung out there while chit chatting for close to half and hour and we were wondering why weren't we leaving back for uni yet.
We asked our bus driver why, to which he answered 'We can't get the bus to start'
Oh crap.
We had to wait for the mechanic to come from Ipoh which could easily take 3 hours. It was already 7pm by that time so we decided to make the best out of the situation and go look for more food. oh yeah, we're pigs lol. but you can't blame us cause there really isn't anything else to do there.
And even after spending about 2 hours walking around, the mechanic still hadn't arrive. so we sat in the bus cracking jokes and just talking. it was fun and the cool weather made it even better =)
we ended talking about superstitious things and one of us mentioned that perhaps the rocks we took from the hill brought us bad luck (from dropping my camera, to spilling the espresso to the bus not being able to start, you see the trend right?). slowly one by one, we all got super paranoid that we quickly threw our rocks out of the bus LOL.
After a while, we just sat at a nearby hotel's lobby and started looking through our notes because we had 3 tests in the coming week. Bummed about until 11.30pm when the mechanic arrived in a car that was so old, you could see insane amount of rust on it. No wonder it took him so long to reach -.-
30 minutes later, the bus finally started and we were all super relieved. I slept as soon as i got on the bus and it only took the driver 2 hours to reach back to uni (i really don't wanna know how fast he was driving lol).
And here i am now, having OD-ed on strawberries and worrying about my next test which will be in 4 hours. So till the next post everyone ;)
Laptop that has uni internet that is virtually non-existent, iphone hooked on to the uni wireless that is barely any better, blue mug and lecture notes.
I'm stuck in my room on a Friday night nursing a very slight flu and sore throat that i feel is about to get worse while trying to catch up on some studying for my three tests next week. *dies*
See my blue mug there? i'm drinking this chinese herbal extract from some weird root that's suppose to help reduce the heatiness in my body. It's called 'Leong Sam Sou' in cantonese. It's always worked but i certainly hope that it'll work especially well tonight cause i have a field trip to go for tomorrow! I'm really excited about it cause it's the first field trip we'll be having! We're going around Ipoh to go look at rocks and its structures and i don't wanna be all weak for that. Some interesting photos tomorrow night hopefully if i'm not too tired from the trip =)
I accidentally spent RM40 surfing online using the EDGE service by Digi last night at one go.
I didn't even realize that i was using that much until i checked my balance >.<
Told my dad this morning and i told him that i learnt my lesson.
He said that i had better because it was an expensive lesson lol.
Now the billion dollar question - to subscribe for unlimited data access for RM66 a month or not?
Very tempting seeing how slow the internet in my uni is.
And the idea of having internet wherever i go is rather empowering.
We'll see how that goes :)
pretty disconnected from blogging and the internet lately. My apologies. Real world's been a bit crazy that it was time to go manage it first before continuing to tell stories here.
I got back to uni after going back for the weekend just yesterday and it was one of my worst rides on the bus ever cause the effing air-cond on the bus wasn't working. I was literally bathing in sweat and i felt like my head was about to explode by the time i reached. The only air that we could get was from a little hatch which the bus driver popped open on the top of the bus. But it was pointless cause it was still too damn hot and humid (it was 12 in the afternoon) and barely enough air was flowing into the bus. ridiculous i tell you.
And only just today did i realize that there's only two more weeks of classes left for me this semester. After that it's my one week study break and then *shudders* finals.
This semester literally just slipped by way too fast.
Haha!! Silly rents. read more
