So i called my dad to wish my mom (cause my mom wasn't
answering her phone).
He answered and he asked me to guess where they
were.
I thought maybe my dad took my mom for a nice day out in KL
or something you know, it being Mother's Day and all.
so i
guessed Pavilion or KLCC.
'Nope,' he answered. 'We're in Kuching! You've been here before right? Any nice places to go to here?'
Me: ............ Is that why I haven't heard from either of you at all the past few days??
And i can literally hear my dad grinning over the phone.
Yup. They went outstation without telling their daughter. Again.
I think they enjoy the kick that they get doing this to me all the time.
Just this Friday, i finally got to go home and escape from all the madness for three days.
I got home at 7.30pm and my dad told me that a registered mail had arrived for me and he put it in my room.
I was expecting a cheque from The Star for an event that i covered for them in November so i quickly rushed to my room to get it.
But when i got into my room, i found this on my bed.
So i decided to open the bag.
In it was a big red box that had the words 'The Royal Mint' on it. I thought that my dad had gotten me some gold coin collection from the Royal Mint. But when i opened the box...
It was a small yellow paper bag that had the words 'TSL House of Fine Jewelry'.
My dad got me jewelry...?
But no, in that little paper bag was this..
After reading Hint 1, i knew where to head to.
My dad has a corner in the house where he puts all of his Armed Forces Days memorabilia so that's where i went!
Upon closer inspection, i spotted this...
Aha! Gotcha!
I took the paper out and it read...
The Chinese words translated means 'Shanghai Beauty'.
I knew exactly what the hint was referring to.
We have four chinese paintings around the house so i proceeded to check them one by one.
The first one...
yield nothing when i pushed the frame a little. so i went to check out the other three paintings...
Is it me? or is the middle one not straight?
Sure enough when i moved the middle frame from the wall just a little bit, a piece of paper fell down on the floor.
My instant thought was my dog chilly. But i searched her area and i found nothing. So i thought perhaps my dad *did* put the clue into the fridge with real chilly.
But there was nothing there. I kept looking around my dog's area and i realized something...
Why were her two bowls stacked up?
Praying hard that the clue was there, i lifted the first bowl. Nothing.
But...
It was under the second bowl! =D
The next clue was this...
Because part of the hint got smudged by Chilly's drinking water, i went and asked my dad what the missing word was.
He couldn't remember what the mising word was LOL!
But he said that even without the word, i still should be able to decipher the hint.
Utility. I thought water and electric. outside home sweet home so it should be the meters!
I checked the top of our electric meter but there was nothing there except for dust.
I took my house keys and got ready to go check the water meter outside the house.
But as i was walking there, i saw that my post box was unusually packed with papers...
White paper with blue writings. Confirm it was the next clue!
We spend money on shoes that protect our legs. (The chinese writing reads legs)
That's a lot of shoes to go through, i thought.
But wait. I noticed something even before i started digging through the shoes and making a mess of the place.
Do you see what i see?
Took the clue out and read it.
Feed the hot and spicy vege? Feed Chilly?
I told my dad that i had already found the clue that was there. The one under my dog's bowls. I asked my dad if he had made a mistake with the clues.
And that's when i realized.
DOG FOOD!
Ran behind and slowly opened the container that had Chilly's food. I expected to find another clue.
Instead... i found this there!
Cute red teddy bear paper bag! I took it out...
And carefully opened the tape on it and peeked through...
I really couldn't believe what i saw! But it was there. Those little logos said it all.
I was jumping and screaming in joy! Overwhelmed! My dad did get me one after all! =D
Gave my dad and mom two big hugs and said thanks to them =)
Then i proceeded to bring the box out delicately.
iPhone!!!! =D
8GB only. But still an iPhone!!
Still wrapped and untouched. Just perfect.
In the end, my dad spilled the beans. My brother's girlfriend did bring back and pass my dad two iphones but my dad told me that he only received one. He even went to the extent of calling my brother, his girlfriend and my sister to make sure that they didn't leak out to me that there were 2 iphones around LOL.
My dad and mom are the awesomest =)
Oh the paper bag was this.
It was a binding contract that i have to score 3.96 and above this semester.
Not gonna be easy but i sure damn well am gonna try my hardest!
*phone rings*
Me: Hello?
Dad: B, are you free to talk?
(yes, my dad calls me B >.<)
Me: Yeah, sure. What's up?
Dad: I seperti kera diberi bunga. (it's a BM saying)
Me: Huh? I forgot what that means already.
Dad: I'm like a beetle that has been given a flower. Don't know what to do with it.
Me: *even blurrer* What you talking about?
Dad: I just got my brand new iPhone. Just got it last night when Alice (my bro's gf) came over.
Me: Yerrrr! So nice! I want alsoooo!! Did you get the 8gb one or the 16gb?
Dad: 8gb only.
Me: How many iPhones did she bring back?
Dad: 1 only la.
Me: 1 only? Means i don't have? *insert sad face here*
Dad: No. You study hard and get good results then only i buy for you the second time around la
Me: Aiyer. So cheating wan.
Dad: Hehe. Eh, where to insert the sim card ah? I've been looking the whole morning for the slot to insert it in but cannot find. Search online also don't have an the phone doesn't come with a manual either. How are people gonna know where to put it in?
Me: Dad, that's cause the phone wasn't meant to be be sold to 56 year old men like you. =p
(yes, cheap shot. i know XD)
Dad: Wah you ah. Must be diplomatic a bit. How you gonna get your iPhone if you say like that about me.
(touche lol!)
Me: Aiyah. When i show you my results you sure cannot say anything already wan.
Dad: Hehe. So how to put it in?
*teaches dad how to put the sim card in*
Dad: Oh i see. Oh can work already! Ok ok thank you! later i try to sms you and see haha!
Me: I also want! Eh that phone very fragile wan ah. So don't drop it into the toilet bowl like you did with your previous phone.
Dad: Of course of course! lol
Me: ok. Bye dad!
*puts down the phone*
My dad has an iPhone. And i don't.
That's just damn wrong >.<
It was nice to have the whole family together again, just chatting, laughing and having dinner =)
I love the sense of belonging, that familiar warmth, that you feel when you're with your family.
It's just something that can never be replaced.
I can't believe it's been 5 days since my last update! It felt shorter
than that. I really really do apologize to my dear Voxers and readers.
I've been going out too much and have hardly been online. And i'm going
back to uni this Sunday which means one, i'm making good use of my time
right now by meeting up with loads of people (hence the lesser
updates). and two, there will be more frequent updates after i get back
to uni! Don't worry, this blog is still my priority, albeit not the top
one at the moment.
So before you hit me with a hammer and ask where are the damn photos, here they are...
These are the horses that i was talking about. The ones that gallop on the lake.
This bridge leads to the students' dormitory (the three buildings behind the clock tower). The rooms that they have there can beat a 3-star hotel flat. Hot shower, air-cond, minibar, daily housekeeping and tv that has BBC and CNN.
Can't get any better than that.
They light up the right things in the right places!
I had to stick my hand and my camera out of the window to get this shot. lucky thing i didn't drop my camera or anything lol.
Boulevard of Nations. A road that has flags of each country on both sides as seen in the photo.
Reminds me of the UN.
Assumption University is beautiful, isn't it? Was definitely worth going for the whole competition. The exposure and experience was worth every cent of it.
On another note, i've been having a terrible sore throat for the past 4 days. I lost my voice for about 3 of those days and it was so hard to communicate because no one could understand nuts that i was saying lol. Made even harder when i talk on the phone. Some even said that i sound like i was about to die. Some said that i sounded like a frog >.<
And it didn't help that the lesser voice i had left, the more i wanted to talk lol.
I've probably annoyed all of my friends in the past days. i know i definitely annoyed my brother hehe.
To tell everyone that i'm back safely from Bangkok already!
The hotel at Pattaya didn't have wireless there (and they claimed to be a 5 star hotel! even the accommodation at Assumption University was way better!) so i couldn't update at all.
But now that i'm back home already, get ready to be nicely bombarded with a lot of photos hehe. I didn't take that many photos though, especially when in town because i was very afraid that i would be mugged. But photos will be up only when i edit them so stay tuned!
On another note, things after i got home has been really good! My brother is now back from Singapore and it's really nice to have him around.
It's really obvious that my mom favours him more than me because after we had dinner just now, he offered to wash the dishes, but my mom refused to let him wash.
And when I offered to wash, my mom kindly stepped aside for me to take over -_________-"
Not only that, my brother had to add oil and said 'it sucks to be the youngest hehe!'
Oh how i have missed my brother lol.
I'm home! I'm home! I'm homeeeeeee!
(I actually got back yesterday morning however because my internet was being a bitch last night, i couldn't access Vox)
Anywayyyyy,
I've never felt happier to be home!
I think I missed mom and dad more than i realized because i spent the whole night last night just talking to them.
This is what studying away from home does to you. You come home feeling all sentimental and you appreciate the presence of your parents even more =)
I spent the whole of yesterday afternoon just being a pig in the house. Enjoying some series on my laptop and taking an hour's nap.
When my parents got home, i caught up with them about things that have been going on.
Also helped mom in the kitchen while she was cooking, and man, i've missed her cooking so so much! It tastes so much better than the uni food that i'm used to. Much healthier too!
After dinner, dad followed me to the nearby camera shop and after an hour, i came back with this little baby...
Months of saving up paid off last night. And it feels so damn good to buy something with money that you've saved up. I had the biggest smile on my face last night =D
I was fiddling and testing it out the whole of last night. I just couldn't get enough of it and i am AMAZED by the difference it makes in photos. I'll try to post up some photos for comparison soon!
However, the downside was that the shop ran out of Eneloop batteries. they only had 2 of it when my camera runs on 4 batteries. So in the mean time, i'll just have to make do with whatever batteries that i find lying around the house until the shop stocks up on Eneloops again.
I'll be taking the flash out for a test run this afternoon when i go to watch the Royals Debate Finals at UiTM Shah Alam.
So till my next post, take care!
and it was cool!
I'm taking up modern music as my compulsory co-curricular activity for this semester and tonight was our first class.
I don't wanna spoil the fun by trying to describe everything so you all will just have to wait till next week for my next class for me to take photos of the instruments yeah!
and also Happy Belated Valentine's Day to everyone out there! Hope you had a great time spending it with your partner/boyfriend/girlfriend/wife/husband!
i'm going back home for Chinese New Year this friday and i'm hyped! Ang paos (red packets) to collect muahahahaha! my sister and brother will be around for Chinese New Year too which rocks! we haven't had the whole family together in a while already because the both of them work in Singapore. Mom's cooking will be absolutely delicious i bet! omg i can't wait! i'm so excited! XD Will definitely have photos for you all, don't worry!
the best part is that our lecturers were so understanding that they postponed the assignment submission date to next friday. yay!
okay then. i'm off to sleep already. have a good night everyone!
