have taught me that the first weekend in uni is extremely boring.
so i'll be jumping into a friend's car in about 10 minutes and heading home for the weekend! whee!
yeah i know that i've only been here for about 3 days, but the uni is really dead during the first weekend.
wonder what my parents will say when they come home only to discover me lazing on the couch :p
see you guys back home!
Okay so i was in my Drilling Engineering class right, and our lecturer was giving us a brief introduction to the course and how the drilling is done as a whole.
It was rather interesting, with some videos to facilitate the learning and some interesting pictures.
Then he opened up the lecture slides that he had prepared and he scrolled until he reached the slide titled Drilling Hazards & Rish Mitigation Plan.
The following slide was this.
This was all fine and dandy as we all knew full well that this could happen and that these were the risks involved (though they have minimized the possibility of these hazards occurring substatially).
Then he went on to the next slide which was this...
A big ass shark, a huge crocodile near the site and what seems to be a snake orgy in one of the pipes.
holy shit, what in the world did i get myself into? o.O
I reached uni safely yesterday evening at around 7pm, skipping the first day of classes (four hours of classes to be exact). Everyone was wondering why i came back so late.
the truth of the matter is that i just can't bear to leave home. it's been such an eventful holiday that it was just really hard to leave everyone that made my holiday so fun behind =(
you should've seen me. i was packing so slowly and when nothing but packed bags was in sight, i went trying to look for more stuff to pack, as if that would give me an excuse to stay at home just that much longer.
but eventually i moved everything into my car and took that familiar drive back to uni.
i must say though, much love and a big thank you to each and everyone of you back home for so much fun and such a memorable holiday <3 it truly was awesome! crazy at some points, but still awesome :)
Having gone through 3 classes today, i actually found myself looking forward to my subjects this semester! No doubt it's not gonna be easy (considering i have 3 four credit hour subjects along with another 3 subjects), but the content of the subjects look interesting. so we'll see how that goes :)
After getting back from classes, i realized that i didn't have the key to my room. I had yet to register to get my key and my room mate was out of uni. it was a good hour and a half before the office opened so i decided to try and see if i could slot a card through to get the door to open. I saw this as something possible because there is a gap between the door and the wall.
after having almost broken one of my cards, i changed to using a plastic ruler instead and with some pushing and pulling, some twisting, some jamming the ruler through, and right when i was about to give up, my door swung open like magic!
Scary as it may sound, I'd just broken into my own room lol!
And now to go register for my key and to ask the office to get my door fixed.
heck, if i can break into my own room, who's to say other people can't.
Popped by the Curve in the afternoon after having lunch and headed straight to Borders there.
And I went crazy in Borders today. I kid you not.
I was literally on a book frenzy.
It could be because i haven't been buying books for such a long time already, that when faced with suchs good deals for books that i've been hearing so much about, i couldn't but help splurge on it!
I stepped in and faced the table that had the '3 for 2' books.
And within a minute, i already had 4 books in my arms :P
Carried the pile of books with me and browsed some more to see what other interesting books i could find at the place. I think I must've looked like such a nerd >.<
I would reach out for books without a second thought and before i knew it, i was lugging around 9 books with me :P
But that was one too many, so i only got 8 books, two of which were presents to really good friends!
(i think i've said this before, but don't books just make the best of presents!)
Damage done = RM 230. I'm using this as a treat to myself for my good results, and it's books! I mean, as opposed to buying other stuff, i think this is a much better way to treat oneself! =)
Also best to stock up nicely with books first so that i will always have something to read when in uni!
I mentioned how buying books is so much more fulfilling than buying clothes sometimes and my guyfriend couldn't believe that he heard that, especially coming from a girl LOL!
Did a little bit more shopping before i came home for a quick dinner, shower and then head back out to the Curve (again) to chill at Laundry Bar for a while before catching The Dark Knight at Cineleisure Platinum!
Ok, anyone who knows me knows that I don't drink beer. I don't like how it is bitter and hard to drink. And also because it hits you right at your glands below your cheek and it makes you (or at least me) cringe >.<
But seeing that this was the only thing the guys were drinking, i decided to give it a try, again.
I cringed, again and mentioned that it was bitter. So they told me that i shouldn't sip it, but take big gulps.
So take big gulps, i did.
And it wasn't that bad. I guess it just takes some getting used to. Especially the part where it is just really gassy and a tad bitter.
But i would still take a whiskey coke any day :p
Headed over to Cineleisure Platinum (Platinum is like the Gold Class of Cineleisure) after that for the movie and every part of it (the place and the movie) was awesome!
The place is a small theatre of 24 big, plush, comfy, reclinable seats with excellent butler-like services provided. They serve you food in your seats! All you have to do is order before or during the movie.
I was sitting on the front row and i was so afraid that it'll be so close to the screens that i wouldn't enjoy it. but despite it being the front row, i didn't have any trouble watching the movie at all, all thanks to the (electrically) reclinable seats! :D Visual was good, audio was good too!
As for the movie, it was superb and bloody excellent. The flow of the movie was really smooth and i personally think it was better than Batman Begins. I won't spoil it for you guys, but all i can say is that they really couldn't have picked a better person to play the Joker than Heath Ledger!
I really think that the movie couldn't be as good were it not for his acting as the Joker. It was so good that i actually felt psychologically afraid of him (watch it and you'll know what i mean).
You guys *have* to watch it!
Popped by Sanctuary for a while after for Yih Lin's Birthday celebration. Caught up with the girls there a little bit, danced a little (Thursday night at Sanctuary = good music!) before calling it a night.
Feeling rather talkative right now, hence the long blog post. Also it's to make up for my relatively long absence from here :p
Well, since the last post, i've played paintball in a multi-storey carpark, been waking up at 3 in the afternoon, met up with classmates from my primary school whom i haven't seen for ages and been enjoying the last week of holiday a lot! :)
That's about it. Time to sleep for me. There's a nice sweeping, cool breeze tonight and i reckon i'll be having a good night's sleep because of it :)
Good night Voxers!
Results are out and i'm satisfied! Today's gonna be a good day for me! =D
Now the only thing left for me to do is to make sure that i enjoy the one last, crucial week of holidays i have left to bits before going back for another crazy semester!
Wheee!
p.s. Darlings where are all of you? I wanna go celebrate but i refuse to celebrate without you all! Me is missing you guys! =(
i think i understand now what the paintballers mean when they say that Isi Rimba can really tire you out.
because i slept for 14 hours right after i posted up the previous post o.O
i didn't even realize that i was that tired!
(ok perhaps falling asleep while watching the Wimbledon finals was a good indication >.<)
i told Alvin about sleeping for 14 hours and he said that that must be some kinda record lol.
on a more scary note, just checked my uni website (after a good one and a half months of staying away from it) only to find a nice, bright blue announcement there saying that results for the previous semester will be released this Friday at 10am.
so you'll either see me smiling, jumping, grinning, laughing and bloody happy, or gloomy, depressed and sulky as hell on Friday night.
let's hope it's the former.
meh, i'm scared =/
watching three movies in the cinema in a day doesn't tire you out, you're wrong lol.
Yesterday afternoon was spent watching Wanted and The Bank Job with Sesha, Sze Ping, Chin Yew, Sze May and Evan. Headed back home after that for dinner with mom and dad before heading out again to Mid Valley for Get Smart with fellow paintballers, Doug, Alvin, Alvin (no typo here. there were two Alvins there lol), Diana, Pat and Andre.
Reached home around 2 after that and i crashed on the bed nicely. Weather was just cool and breezy the whole morning and i had one of the best sleeps ever.
This weekend's gonna be insane as well because i'll be photographing my ex-school's Prefects Reunion on Saturday Night and the whole of Sunday will be spent paintballing. insane but fun!
Okay i have no idea what to write already.
Nights Voxers!
which means it's about another 3 weeks before my holidays end and i have to go back to uni.
noooooooooo =(
and it also means that results will be out in about another week or so *shudders*.
i'm trying not to think about it because if i do, i'll just worry over it, which basically solves nothing.
so i'm happily staying in my little bubble of bliss and enjoying everything that i have now while anything that has to do with uni and studies is conveniently deflected off *grins*
but that's just how i roll.
when it's time to work, i'll work hard. but when it's time to play, i play hard.
and it's worked pretty well for me so i'm sticking to it :)
was telling dad as well how i won't be surprised if people from uni
thought i was dead or missing cause they haven't heard a single squeek
out of me for the past one month lol.
he bombed me back saying how can they not think like that when i've been coming back past 2am for the past two weeks
i replied, 'Euro mahhh' :p
which is true also. cause i came home before 2 today! see, got improvement! :D
really doesn't feel like i've been back for a month already.
a quote from the movie, Vanilla Sky.
The whole of Sunday was spent paintballing at Mudtrekker in Sg Buloh. and it was a bloody good experience. (figuratively speaking, of course).
I don't have any photos of the event cause i was advised to not bring my camera there so you'll just have to bear with my storytelling.
So, paintballing this time was totally different from the last time i played it. The last time i played speedball, the form of paintball which you would more commonly find in Malaysia that is played in open field with air bunkers. This time it was recball (or more commonly known as woodsball in the US). This form of paintball is generally played in the jungle, but Mudtrekker has a playing field that is a mix of jungle and urban (imagine abandoned shacks/houses facing an uphill jungle with trees, blue barrels and sandbunkers). It was a nice introduction to recball for me.
When i first got there, it really looked like everyone was preparing for war - camouflage suits everywhere, paintball markers that looked exactly like real guns, harnesses to strap on pods of pellets, hydration packs, facemasks and boots. it was damn cool.
I was playing for TDP that day and we played a total of three games, each lasting about 45 minutes and each with different scenarios.
the first one was where we were in the jungle and we had to defend a rocket which the enemies would try to reach and blow up. the second, we became the offensive and we had to rush into the urban area to detonate two rockets there and the third was where we had to infiltrate enemy lines from the urban area.
the dynamics of the game were similar to what you would find in a real war - strategy, accuracy, teamwork, skill and a little bit of luck. the adrenaline that comes with it is like no other. imagine running for cover, hiding behind a bunker and trying to hit your enemy while avoiding the pellets that were being shot by him, crawling, rolling, rushing. anything that you can basically think of.
There was even a paint grenade and a smoke bomb that went off sometime in the game. and guess what! apparently there is a rocket launcher for paintball as well. i would loveee to get my hands on one of those. bloody cool.
by the end of the day, i came back super tired with only two bruises (which i am actually very proud of :p) when i expected a lot more. i think it's because i was playing very defensively. i was too afraid to rush and go rambo cause i didn't know what to expect. my outfit was also relatively thin compared to the rest so yeah, didn't want to take the risk lol. it's *that* painful when you get shot. but sooooo fun!
i slept like a baby that night and since then, i :
- have met up with more people (namely my girls from MRSM which i missed so much! <3)
- went rock climbing one more time (this one was a really last minute thing and i think i've improved! :D)
- went to a Brazillian buffet for the first time (Carnaval in DJ. great food and great for meat lovers!)
- almost drove up to Genting with friends at 5 in the morning (i'm actually quite glad we didn't go cause i would be feeling so dead right now if we did)
- did 160km/h on NKVE at 6 in the morning for the first time. (empty, open road was too tempting. could've gone faster but i ran out of road cause i had to turn off. next time *grins*)
not too sure what to expect from the trip though but i hope it will be a good one.
time to pack and sleep.
not sure if i'll be able to blog from there but i'll see what i can do.
till then, take care everyone!
