Popped by the Curve in the afternoon after having lunch and headed straight to Borders there.
And I went crazy in Borders today. I kid you not.
I was literally on a book frenzy.
It could be because i haven't been buying books for such a long time already, that when faced with suchs good deals for books that i've been hearing so much about, i couldn't but help splurge on it!
I stepped in and faced the table that had the '3 for 2' books.
And within a minute, i already had 4 books in my arms :P
Carried the pile of books with me and browsed some more to see what other interesting books i could find at the place. I think I must've looked like such a nerd >.<
I would reach out for books without a second thought and before i knew it, i was lugging around 9 books with me :P
But that was one too many, so i only got 8 books, two of which were presents to really good friends!
(i think i've said this before, but don't books just make the best of presents!)
Damage done = RM 230. I'm using this as a treat to myself for my good results, and it's books! I mean, as opposed to buying other stuff, i think this is a much better way to treat oneself! =)
Also best to stock up nicely with books first so that i will always have something to read when in uni!
I mentioned how buying books is so much more fulfilling than buying clothes sometimes and my guyfriend couldn't believe that he heard that, especially coming from a girl LOL!
Did a little bit more shopping before i came home for a quick dinner, shower and then head back out to the Curve (again) to chill at Laundry Bar for a while before catching The Dark Knight at Cineleisure Platinum!
Ok, anyone who knows me knows that I don't drink beer. I don't like how it is bitter and hard to drink. And also because it hits you right at your glands below your cheek and it makes you (or at least me) cringe >.<
But seeing that this was the only thing the guys were drinking, i decided to give it a try, again.
I cringed, again and mentioned that it was bitter. So they told me that i shouldn't sip it, but take big gulps.
So take big gulps, i did.
And it wasn't that bad. I guess it just takes some getting used to. Especially the part where it is just really gassy and a tad bitter.
But i would still take a whiskey coke any day :p
Headed over to Cineleisure Platinum (Platinum is like the Gold Class of Cineleisure) after that for the movie and every part of it (the place and the movie) was awesome!
The place is a small theatre of 24 big, plush, comfy, reclinable seats with excellent butler-like services provided. They serve you food in your seats! All you have to do is order before or during the movie.
I was sitting on the front row and i was so afraid that it'll be so close to the screens that i wouldn't enjoy it. but despite it being the front row, i didn't have any trouble watching the movie at all, all thanks to the (electrically) reclinable seats! :D Visual was good, audio was good too!
As for the movie, it was superb and bloody excellent. The flow of the movie was really smooth and i personally think it was better than Batman Begins. I won't spoil it for you guys, but all i can say is that they really couldn't have picked a better person to play the Joker than Heath Ledger!
I really think that the movie couldn't be as good were it not for his acting as the Joker. It was so good that i actually felt psychologically afraid of him (watch it and you'll know what i mean).
You guys *have* to watch it!
Popped by Sanctuary for a while after for Yih Lin's Birthday celebration. Caught up with the girls there a little bit, danced a little (Thursday night at Sanctuary = good music!) before calling it a night.
Feeling rather talkative right now, hence the long blog post. Also it's to make up for my relatively long absence from here :p
Well, since the last post, i've played paintball in a multi-storey carpark, been waking up at 3 in the afternoon, met up with classmates from my primary school whom i haven't seen for ages and been enjoying the last week of holiday a lot! :)
That's about it. Time to sleep for me. There's a nice sweeping, cool breeze tonight and i reckon i'll be having a good night's sleep because of it :)
Good night Voxers!
Yes, even this Energizer Bunny (believe it, i've been called this before lol) needs some time to recharge.
I've had so much fun the past two days, i now truly remember why i loathed being away from home.
Friday night was spent at Poppy Garden, a club in KL with Mel (who
surprised the crap out of me when i saw her in the car because that
woman is suppose to be in Singapore!), Ping, Shwe, Jasmine, Arthur and
Eman.
Poppy Garden is a nice change from Maison (where we would usually go)
in terms of the crowd and space. It's a lot larger and half of the
place is open air so it doesn't feel as smoky. i like!
I can't
say the same for the music though because the DJ would play really good
music for a while and then he'll suddenly change it to some random
Raggae music which half of the crowd has never heard of before. But
that's nothing good company and some alcohol can't cure! ;)
Aaron, Douglas, Kin Keong and friends were there too and i was actually
supposed to meet them at 11 but because of traffic and some delay, i
only reached there at 11.45. Them buggers wanted to make me down an
inch of whisky from the bottle for being late but i declined cause i
knew i'd KO if i did lol (sorry guys =p).
Also met Audrey (my
bro-in-law's cousin, which i now call my cousin-in-law) there along
with Shannon and Bryan (both of whom i conveniently scared shitless lol!) and
some of their friends. They were just sitting at the table right next
to us only! Small world but ahh, good times good times =)
No photos though cause i'm still waiting for Jasmine to upload them
onto Facebook. To be very honest, i was tempted to bring my DSLR to the
club that night, but my common sense kicked in eventually lol.
Woke up at 12 on Saturday, rushed to the Curve to meet up with Ping,
Mel, Jasmine and we went to Bangsar for a junkyard sale there.
The place is
essentially a very large house that has been converted into a flea
market and you have people selling clothes, accessories, food and music
there, even on the inside of the house! They even had a small section where they would have performances
by bands (which were pretty good imho) and a swimming pool! I didn't snap any photos of the
place because i was too busy looking at the clothes and i came back
with this!
Had a quick dinner at AC then went home for a quick shower before Danial and Adam picked me up to go for the National Cancer Society of Malaysia's Relay For Life.
We didn't walk all 16 hours unfortunately =/ i think we did about 10? 15? rounds around the track? But hey, it's not about completing all 16 hours, but about showing support right? =)
It's Sunday evening now and the sky is dark and it's raining. I wanted to go jogging but i guess i can't.
Time to curl up with a good book on the couch =)
Right, now if you have been reading my blog long enough, you would know that as it gets closer to my semester break, I would usually come up with a list of things that I wanna do during my holidays.
Well I finally have it and here it is! In no particular order...
Self-pampering: This semester has been a pretty rough one for me and a little bit of self-pampering is in order. The first thing i'm gonna do when i get back is see my hairstylist. My hair looks terrible right now. It's out of shape, messy and just downright wrong. I've been stressing over it for a really long time now and i still have no idea what to do with it =( Any suggestions on what i should do to my hair?
Travelling: The parents and I have our flights booked to go to Hong Kong for 5 days this June! Whopee! I've always wanted to go there since reading so many blogs about how nice the place is! And now i get to go there! Whee! Gonna be fun and probably gonna be doing some shopping there as well!
Besides Hong Kong, there's also the customary twice a year pilgrimage to Singapore but this time it's gonna be different. This time Singapore will be with the girls! Melll we're coming for you darling! And you shall bring us to all the cool clubs there and we shall dance the nights away!
Shopping: Oh yeah. I have the longest shopping list ever with me right now. Some of the things that i have to get include a new purse, new sleeve for my iPhone, more shorts, new clothes, a new school bag to use for classes, sunnies, more new clothes, a new Swatch, new jeans, running shoes, dressy shoes and the list goes on forever. Nothing exorbitantly expensive on my list this time though, which is a good thing.
Friends and Family: A big chunk of my holiday will be dedicated to these people. Yumchar sessions with the girls, meetups with friends and dinners with the family is definitely something i'm looking forward to! =D If any of you wanna meet up (from 28 May onwards), just give me a call alright? ;)
Photography: Most of you would probably realize that i'm putting up significantly less photos this year. Well to say that i didn't have time and that i was too busy this semester would be an excuse. So I'm gonna make it up to myself by going for more photo outings this holidays (Hui Wen! Jom!!) and also if things go well, get the opportunity of learning from some brilliant (female) wedding photographers this holidays.
Boyfriend: Me being away from him all the way in uni here hasn't been easy on him (and me as well). And i'll be honest, we've had our fair share of rough times. So this holidays is gonna be spent making up for the times that we've been apart =)
That's about it. I think i've pretty much got everything covered! Am psyched out about the holidays just by looking at this already! =D
Back to the books right now. Progress is not quite as good as i expected it to be but hopefully it'll get better soon! I still have that agreement with my parents to fulfill so that should give me the push i need. I really really don't want my iPhone to be taken away. I've grown too fond of it already <3
Also, tomorrow night me and my friends from uni are probably gonna be going clubbing in Ipoh... o.O
Yeah i know, you're probably wondering 'There are clubs in Ipoh?'. lol, well apparently there are! Though, clubbing, alcohol, uni friends and Ipoh never appeared in the same sentence for me before. This is gonna be an interesting first.
Hence, studying shall be done before enjoying oneself's night out.
Cheers everyone!
Saturday started out with shopping in town and i came back with a few magazines, a novel and a new red top (finally!) for Chinese New Year! I'm officially ready to celebrate it! =D
On Saturday evening, the photographers and I wanted to head to Parit, a small town about 20km away from our uni to have a photo outing. However it started raining pretty heavily.
So we detoured to Bota and had amazing satay there!
Satay is basically marinated chunks of meat poked through by sticks and cooked over charcoal.
Yummy!
The best part is that they're only 25 cents per stick!
Satay is usually eaten with peanut sauce. You can have what we call nasi himpit (squashed rice if directly translated) along with this as well. I had 15 sticks of satay and a lot of nasi himpit =p
Sunday on the other hand, was a tad boring because the internet was down (again!).
I was gloomy and restless almost the whole afternoon until Winnie brought back some big, fat, juicy and absolutely scrumptious strawberries for me from Cameron Highlands! =D (Thanks Winnie!)
I finished that whole box in 10 minutes. XD
So that was about my weekend.
It's going to be Chinese New Year soon (this Thursday to be exact) and i'm pretty excited to go home and see everyone again!
Hopefully I'll be able to snap lots of photos and share with you all after i come back from the holidays!
In the mean time, have a great week ahead everyone! =)
And only bought them on Tuesday when I realized that I couldn't stop thinking about them lol.
They're so pretty!
So pretty that I am afraid of wearing them and ruining them lol.
The simple things that make us girls happy. *sigh* =)
It's the first day of 2008 so Happy New Year everyone! I hope that you had a great new year!
My new year was spent at a theme park! Yeah, believe it lol!
We headed to Siam City Park for the break night and New Year's Eve party there. Reached there at around 10pm and the first thing we did was hit the rides and roller coasters. And the roller coasters there were awesome! definitely beats any roller coasters that i've sat back in Malaysia! All of us adrenaline junkies sat the rides until 11.30pm and we headed over to the main stage where everyone was gathered.
And we all counted down together. And it was all good! =)
Today was spent in Bangkok again and this time shopping was more productive! bought 2 'Little Miss' t-shirts! And also 2 dresses which were really worth it!
Came back after that and i just went around the campus with my camera, snapping photos of what i thought was nice about the place. And the weather was just beautiful! the sky is clear yet the wind is so cool. Added with the night ambience of the campus. Just perfect.
Still yet to put up any photos though and i apologize. I don't have the necessary tools now to do so. When i get back home perhaps.
We're all heading to Pattaya tomorrow to continue with the break rounds! Some sun, sea and sand would be refreshing! =D
Hey everyone! I'm in Bangkok already! and it's been a pretty good first day here!
Flight was smooth and Assumption University did an excellent job at receiving us.
Not only that, you should see the university for yourself. It's beautiful! The lake, the bridges, the buildings, the fields are just incredible! Imagine buildings that look like cathedrals, a long road that has trees with brown leaves on both sides of it, an old clock tower, a bridge that looks like something out of the medieval times and a lake that has statues of horses galloping. Will go around the campus with my camera soon to show you guys what i mean ;)
I was hanging out with some Australians today and we took a cab to Siam Square, the shopping district of Bangkok. We checked out Siam Center and Paragon and a lot of the clothes are surprisingly expensive! But i did manage to find a nice pair of jeans that i really really liked! =D
Food here so far has also been good! I haven't been too adventurous with the food just yet because i am really really afraid that my stomach won't be able to handle the spiciness. but maybe i'll go hunting for some good Tom Yum tomorrow! yum!
Also, today i experienced first-hand the insanity of the traffic and taxi drivers here in Bangkok. It's just crazy i tell you. The jam is horrendous. and the drivers here drive like mad people that i am scared shitless (and I thought KL drivers were brutal). the drivers here can never stay in their own lanes for more than 10 minutes. If you look at a 3-lane congested road from the top, you don't see three straight lines of cars. You see the three lines of cars intertwined with one another!
the worst part is when we were coming back, our cab driver didn't know where the uni was and he didn't bother telling us that he didn't know either.
Imagine the horror of waking up to a small town in the middle of nowhere and realizing that falling asleep in the cab was a bad idea because now, not only are you not anywhere near the university, but you're in some dodgy town that could well pass for a red light district. We almost freaked out.
Lucky thing he checked with some locals there and he managed to find his way to our university (with help from us some more -.-). Cab drivers in Bangkok really cannot make it man.
so that's about it for my first day here. not many of the debaters have arrived yet. Most of them will be arriving tomorrow and i hope to see some familiar faces.
I'm off to the nearby 7-11 to see what goodies i can get there and also to stock up on food! cheerios!
is very very important. it keeps you sane!
hence after my test of friday, it has been hardcore fun all the way till today!
Friday night was spent at Waraku, the jap restaurant with Melvin and Jackie (whom i met at last and is also from Subang!)
We had a good dinner and i had the best time chatting with them! can't remember when was the last time i laughed so hard lol!
8th of septemper was officially the earliest i have ever woken up on a Saturday morning! i was up by 6.30am simply because the guys wanted to go to Tronoh for PhotoPlay. PhotoPlay is simply, according to them, taking photos while having fun doing it!
here are some photos to give you a clearer idea.
(oh by the way, Tronoh is this really small town in the rural area, hence the old buildings)
But then, you need models too no?
You must make sure that they're not in just plain normal clothes..
They must dress the part!
leaving me and Faiz to snap the photos...
lab coat's a tad overexposed because the morning light was directly on him
knocked out on the bed for 4 hours and watched Bourne Identity and Bourne Supremacy in the night.
Matt Damon - hot!
This morning was spent at Low Keen Antique Flea Market in Ipoh!
The place is a street of antique goodies! Think brass items, old phones and clocks, cameras (yes, cameras!), paintings and things like that.. of course there is also the sale of shoes, toys, fake watches, glasswares there.
i absolutely love the place because i just have this thing for old stuff. The best part? the stuff there is cheap! XD
(wei vern just said that i shop like an auntie after she saw what i got from there >.<)
And without further ado, meet Jenny, Jumbo, Jimbo and Jaymon.
Jenny is Johnny's brother!
Jim, if you're reading this, jimbo doesn't refer to you.
it was the next best name i could think of to go with jumbo =p
must study and finish work! >.<
I should be on my mid semester break by now but since it's been pushed back by one month to make the raya holidays longer, i guess the break will just have to wait...
Cheers and hope you all enjoyed the photos =)
has been totally awesome!
since i've gotten back, i've had much better and more delicious food, more relaxation and quality family time, seen almost the whole bunch of my close friends, met new people and had a good time in malls!
ahhhhh! =D
recapping saturday,
Morning was spent with a good brunch with my family, henry and joe and after that we went to meet up with some Randsters, more specifically Jaspreet, Albert, and Hui Wen! finally got to meet her in real life. and she's frickin tall!
much stories told, lots of jokes shared and i really wanted to follow them to the Curve and Ikea after that but i had already promised my parents to meet them at Subang Parade for the So You Think You Can Dance roadshow so i had to leave...
I met up with Dennis, a childhood friend of mine and also a participant in the competition (vote for him okay!). i've seen him dance since we were 9 years old and he's bloody good! gave him a flying kiss and a big hug and followed my parents for some grocery shopping and back home.
in the night, i met up with some of my close friends to catch up on things and to chill and discuss about our trip, and we will be heading to Cherating hopefully! yay!
Sunday...
afternoon, my parents and i headed to the curve and ikea to do some shopping.. walked around and bought some stuff here and there. it was raining cats and dogs then and our car was parked at an open car park so we had to walk in the mall until the rain stopped...
and while we were checking out our stuff at Ikea, i saw this...
so that's about it. i hope everyone had a great weekend! i'll try to update more frequently but it's gonna be hard because my modem burnt and i'm actually at a friend's place updating this hehe.
so hopefully more from me soon! cheers!
